A Quick Way to Bind A Hooked Rug

Here is another way I bind rugs. I don't always serge around the edges but for this one I did. You will want to leave about 1 1/2 inches all around the hooked piece to be folded in for binding. Fold in up to the hooked row Then fold over one more time. Take a needle and thread and baste in place ..... it makes it a lot easier in the long run to do this step. Yarn over and pull a loop of the new strip through all the loops, and you have joined your new strip. Carry the end of the old strip behind your work, sandwiching it inside the next few stitches to secure it. Later trim the ends.

How I Bind A Hooked Rug

Well I've been known to have a pile of hooked rugs and mats to bind. I've tried binding them every which way and this is my favorite. With this method I whittled down a pile of 40 yes 40 rugs and mats last year! So gather up your wool yarn, a big eye needle,a few pins, and a sharp pair of scissors and let's get started.
