an altered book with some keys on it

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog. I hope, wherever you are, that you are experiencing some lovely weather. Adelaide has been cold and overcast for weeks but, today, we finally have some sun!! It's still pretty cold though so all I can say is "Bring on the summer"!!!! OK, down to business ... I have another card to share with you. A very masculine and quite 'grungy' card as my title suggests. I distressed all the edges with my Ingvild Bolme Distressy Tool and inked them with 'Gathered…

a card with an image of a hot air balloon in the middle and lots of other things around it

Birthdays are special times of celebration in our family. I created this masculine steampunk card for our son-in-law. I've been wanting to use the Leaky Shed Studio Hot Air Balloon for some time now and thought it would be fun to go steampunk with it. I've also used the Watch Parts, one of my favorite chipboard sets!! Tips and Techniques Often we think about molding paste being used with a stencil. Here, I've brushed Viva's Graphite Special Effect paste randomly over the chipboard, leaving…

a card with an orange butterfly on it and the words time flies written in black

Hi Crafty Friends Here is last week's card. I had intended doing a pretty Spring like card, but couldn't find the dies for it, so I had a quick change of plan and did this one. I'd made the sample some time ago so I was pretty much 'winging' (ha ha) it trying to remember all the details (and find the kit) at short notice. Anyhoo - it all worked out ok, and we even finished early! We started by stamping the background paper to get different looks for the panels; a great opportunity to get out…

an altered photograph of a man standing in front of clocks

Hi, servus and welcome to our announcement of the Top 5 and prize winners from our June challenge, dear steampunk and industrial style friends! I hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer! Over here (at Lake Atter, in Austria's beautiful Salzkammergut) it has been raining for the last two days - which actually is quite welcome as our goal was to flee the city heat of Vienna and find a bit of refreshment. ;) As always on the fifteenth t's time to announce our Top 5 from the June challenge and…

an altered photograph with gears and words on the front, as well as other items

Over at the KaiserCraft Blog, they are having a challenge where the theme for the month of August is COGS! Well, of course I could not resist, could I? First I ordered the paper pack, die and stencil... Then I set about looking at the delicious paper and die cuts for two weeks... It would seem I work best under pressure and seeing as the deadline is tomorrow... I thought I better get going! So I found a canvas and got to work! I played with the cog embossing folder in as many ways as I could…

a greeting card with two metal gears on the front and back of it, which reads happy birthday

Hi everyone, thanks for all the lovely comments you've left recently. A quick post from me today. Just thought I'd share a card I'd been asked to make. Sometimes keeping it simple is what's requested ....hence the title. I thought I'd take the opportunity to combine it with the current challenge over at SanDee & amelie's blog which is 'Three's my lucky number' . I hope it scrapes in as an entry...definitely a trio and watch, cogs and grungy background with gilding fit the steampunk…

three pieces of art made out of wood and metal parts, each with gears on them

Hi all! Today, I'm sharing the tutorial for this cool, interactive steampunk card over at the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog. It's another version of the tunnel card I've been making by altering Karen Burniston's Accordion Rectangle die. Go HERE to check it out! I've just started experimenting with ECD's Shimmer Sheetz and let me tell you, this material is amazing! Don't those hinges look like real brass? Nope - Shimmer Sheetz! You can find all the supplies I used at Elizabeth Craft Designs…
