I did get a couple of images of snow geese this year but for the most part they were too distant for my 500mm or even with the 1.4x.

I see a lot of photographs of birds in flight, but I seldom see this kind of well-done backlight where the subject becomes luminous. The Snow Goose - Chen caerulescens, is a North American species of goose. This goose breeds north of the timberline in Greenland, Canada, and the northeastern tip of Siberia.

To our knowledge, Snow Goose Moon isn't one of the commonly used moon names. But, at least in some parts of the world, it should be.
