This is a major scrapbuster for fabric! Scrappy hexagons are a bit tedious, but they will use up your smallest scraps and strips that you can’t bear to just throw away. Plus, how great is it …

Jenny Doan is joined by her daughter Natalie and her daughter-in-law Misty as she demonstrates how to make a beautiful quilt-as-you-go hexie quilt. This technique comes from Nicola of Daisy and Grace. Nicola's wonderful set of templates is the perfect tool to whip up gorgeous quilted hexagons the easy way!

Pictures - My Scrappy Hexagon - A good friend (from England!) taught me how to do English Paper Piecing. I had no plan in mind when I started this quilt, just kept putting pieces together. Only took 1-1/2 years and one household move from California to Oregon to complete. It is completely hand pieced, hand quilted and

See a beautiful English Paper Pieced Hexagon quilt made from hand stitched hexies. Modern fabric scrap I Spy quilt with unique borders!
Hanging on the wall at last! approx 62 inches by 56 inches I was expecting all the EPP seams on the half inch hexagons to be hard going with hand quilting but they weren't too bad - just a bit bumpy at times. The hand quilting progressed surprisingly quickly and I was finished within a month. No marking was needed as I just outlined all the 'flowers' in the garden, and followed a lot of the star and diamond edges. To give a little definition to the outer borders (single coloured hexagons…

The last stitches have gone into my binding on my Hexi Quilt... It took me so long to upload the pics..... Might be time to upgrade my computer soon.... It was a lovely sunny and breezy day here today and I managed to get some pics of it hanging on the line.... I am so happy with how it has turned out... Here is a pic of it on my bed.... There will be sweet dreams happening in there tonight.... There's nothing more rewarding than a completed quilt especially with perfect points on the corner…

Rich, scrappy, EPP hexagon quilts are my favourite! In the past, when I've tried to pull off this vibe, it's either been too rich, or too soft. With this version of Haypenny, I feel like I'm slowly understanding what fabrics I need to use, and how to put them together in a way I'm really happy with.

It's been at least 3-4 years in the making and it's taken over a week to put this quilt top together (COVID has really knocked me about), but I can now say a great big YAY! I love how this is turning out. It's bright and happy and scrappy and makes me smile. I started making these scrap hexies a number of years ago - they were leftovers from making the Kingfisher Quilt. I decided to prepare more scrap hexies and refill my Twinings tin. This became my go-to project. It travelled with us to…

I love making EPP hexies. It's mindless work for when I want to occupy my hands but don't want to think about what I'm doing. They are a great portable project for on the road work. But, honestly, I get kinda bored with the standard layouts I see. Yeah, yeah, yeah .. seen that, seen that, seen that. BUT THEN .. this layout just showed up on my FB feed. It's *stunning*. Absolutely amazingly incredible. I think to get the color distribution right, you'd almost need to have a design wall and…
