The history: For Queen Alexandra's silver wedding anniversary of 1888, a royal committee (made up of 364 aristocratic ladies named 'The Ladies of Society') raised money to have this kokoshnik-style tiara made. It is made up of 61 diamond bars. The current wearer: Queen Elizabeth II.

A diamond Kokoshnik tiara, formed of sixty-one graduated bars rising to the centre and pave-set with 488 brilliants.

Queen Alexandra's Russian Kokoshnik Tiara, made by Garrard & Co., 1888. It was presented to Queen Alexandra of the United Kingdom as a Silver Wedding gift by the "Ladies of Society" (365 peeresses of the realm). She bequeathed it to her daughter-in-law, Queen Mary. 22nd June and today's tiara is the Pearl Drop Kokoshnik that was part of the Russian Royal Jewels. It was made by Bolin in the 1840s and a much loved piece of the Czar's mother, Empress Marie Feodorovna. It was stolen by the Bolsheviks in 1917 when her palace was ransacked. This tiara was sold intact and ended up in the hands of the Duke of Roxborough and then Imelda Markos. Today the original is held at the Bank of the Philippines.
