Astrid Wilk on Instagram: "Making my Phalaenopsis Orchid for „Urban Blooms“ 2024 Miniature Flower Show in NY.

My specialty: I make the leaf and flower patterns for all of my miniature plants from colored oven-hardening polymer clay using the cane technique. I stack different colored clay together to form patterns and reduce the size to a few mm. This makes very delicate and realistic patterns possible. But it also takes some practice and a lot of patience.
The stem is made of floral wire and the pot is made by me from transparent resin. I really wanted a transparent pot for the orchids.

The nursing pots fit perfectly into the orchid planters. All parts have magnets to attach to each other and my custom made wooden shelves.

Astrid Wilk on Instagram: "Making my new ANTHURIUM VEITCHII miniature plant cane pattern from oven hardening polymer clay. This plant is also called the King Anthurium. Maybe one of you knows why?! Please drop a comment. The pattern is created by staking bullseye cane with a skinner blend of different shades of green. So simple with a great effect. After modeling each leaf, the stripes and shades help create the depth effect of the characteristic leaf structure. Have fun creating 🪴 You’re asking a lot for process videos, so here is a brand new one. Astrid Wilk on Instagram: "The process continues from cane to the finished mini plant. Here is my Caladium White Christmas. New caladium will be on my list when I get back to work next week. Do you have any suggestions for new Caladium? All miniature plant sculptures are unique and handmade by me from polymer clay using the cane technique to create very intricate patterns using only colored clay. They are not painted on. The plants are attached to custom-made wood shelves with magnets and can be used both as wall objects and as individual plants in the doll’s house.🪴 #astridwilkdiy #polymerclaycane #polymerclaycanes #polymerclaytutorial #polymerton #miniaturen #miniatureplants #miniaturemaking #botanicalart #miniatures #smallthings #ミニチュア #clayart #claycreations #dollhouseplants #plan Clay Oven, Mini Plant, Colored Clay, Polymer Clay Cane, Polymer Clay Canes, Miniature Plants, Mini Plants, Polymer Clay Tutorial, Diy Dollhouse

Astrid Wilk on Instagram: "Make my tiny Jewel Orchid - petola macodes with me. First I build the leaf pattern out of different colored polymer clay, then the cane is reduced to a few millimeters in diameter in order to cut tiny slices, which, with a lot of patience, turn into tiny leaves ✨ The first cane was a color fail. After baking the complete contrast was gone. I made several color samples for the next try and the pattern was still lost. So again. On the next try I mixed the colors brighter, the result was better, but not as I imagined. I rethought my entire color concept and started again from scratch. The effort was worth it and the finished mini plant is my favorite this year. All parts are handmade by me ✨🌵🌴 #tinyplantsonshelves #astridwilkdiy #polymerclaycane #polymerclaycane Jewel Orchid, Color Concept, Mini Plant, Polymer Clay Cane, Mini Plants, Miniatures Tutorials, Plant Shelves, December 4, The Leaf
