This is just a quick reminder diagram to show minimum building code requirements. A toilet requires at least 15inches of space from the center of the bowl to the nearest wall (or permanent structure/object such as a vanity or tub). If the toilet is in an alcove then the space must be at least 30 inches with the toilet centered.   It must have at least 21 inches from the front of the bowl to the nearest wall or object, but 30 inches is recommended for comfort.
