Retirement and Back to the Basics: Using an Electric Roaster While Canning to keep your jars hot

When I can the boiling water bath or pressure caner and whatever I am canning take up the stove space so I use my roaster to keep the jars hot. I fill the jars with water and add some water to the roaster and keep it on low. If I need to add more water to the water bath to cover the jars I have nice hot water to use and at the end of my day I recycle the water and use it to wash the dishes. Put in a cold oven leaving a small amount of space around each one for heat circulation. Turn temperature to 250 and cook 4 hours. Leave in the oven until cooled. Most will be sealed by the time you take them out. They basically steam cook and have an awesome taste. And yes....they are SAFE!
