Louise Bogan’s poem Medusa explores themes of jealousy, transformation, and the consequences of emotional pain. The speaker identifies with Medusa, a figure from mythology who turns people to stone with her gaze, reflecting the bitterness and isolation that can arise from jealousy and betrayal. Another quote from Medusa. "Peace starts with suffering". I believe this could mean multiple things. Athena could have peace from causing suffering to Medusa, however, Medusa may also have peace once her suffering is over with. "Freedom starts with confinement" could mean that she was confined to her lair and she will be free once she is killed. the words medusa are written in black and white

A quote by Medusa found on Google. I find this quote to be interesting because it shows an emotional side of Medusa and a look into who she is. She discusses the unknown, which could mean she knew she would have a unfavorable fate, but did not know what it was. She could have asked Athena but Athena was infuriated and punished her instead and never would she have imagined what her true fate would have been.
