Recently, I've been doing some fast weaving to build up my inventory of guitar straps. It is fun for me to line them all up and compare and contrast designs. Hopefully, you will enjoy seeing them, too. The pattern drafts are included so that you can use them to help design your own bands. I ask that you don't copy any EXACTLY, as I assure my customers that these are one of-a-kind designs. All are 2" wide and mostly use my favorite sport weight cotton. In some cases, heavier or thinner yarns…

Inkle loom weaving is so fun, easy to learn and affordable to begin. If you've been thinking about starting to weave on an inkle loom, I strongly encourage you to have a go. Inkle looms are simple devices that won't take up much space and won't break the bank either. If you're an absolute beginner

Plain-weave inkle bands offer a wide variety of designs, but pick-up expands the pattern possibilities even more. There are many approaches to pick-up, but Baltic pick-up is often the first step for weavers. This style involves picking pattern threads up and down from their natural weave. As you manipulate the pattern threads, the background weaves plain weave, and row-by-row, your design appears—like a little bit of bandweaving magic. So far, one type of pickup stands out as my favorite way to create fancy patterns. It is most commonly know these days as "Baltic-Style" pickup. I learned it back in the 1970's from Helene Bress' book, Inkle Weaving. She refers to it as "Basketweave Background". Evelyn Neher in her book, Inkle, calls it "Speckled" the term which I have adopted and used over the years. It is also sometimes called, supplementary warp technique, European, Latvian, Scandinavian or Sami pickup. So many names…
