Aπeebaㅏ류바 on Instagram: "Prepping a canvas is an important step before painting. Here are some tips:

1. Clean the canvas: Remove any dust or debris by gently wiping it with a clean, dry cloth.
2. Prime the canvas: Apply a layer of gesso to create a smooth, even surface for the paint to adhere to.
3. Sand the surface: If needed, lightly sand the canvas after the gesso dries to ensure a smoother texture.
4. Seal the back: To prevent moisture from warping the canvas, apply a layer of sealant to the back.
5. Let it dry: Allow the canvas to dry completely before starting your painting.

Hope these tips help!

Missy Narrance on Instagram: "I began acrylic painting w/ no experience working with canvas. I was having problems like paint not going on smoothly, goopiness & the inability to paint very fine details. I started troubleshooting the problems on the internet, which is an invaluable resource to an artist who can't go to art school. What happened to be my issue? Not gesso'ing & sanding. Here's what I've learned & my current process. 1. Get the dents out of your canvas. You can kind of get away with doing this throughout the painting process, too. The way you get dents out is by significantly wetting the back of the canvas and letting it dry. I use a mixture of sprayed water (which tends to bead) & then use a large paintbrush to kind of rub it in and spread it around.
