Shakespeare’s Globe (England). 'Few London experiences can beat a Bard’s eye view of the stage at the recreated Globe and it’s even more fun to get a ticket to stand (Elizabethan style). But if you want a more comfortable perspective on Shakespeare, pay a bit more and grab one of the seats in the galleries. The theatre is a triumph of authenticity, right down to the nail-less construction.' http://www.lonelyplanet.com/england/london/sights/historic-theatre/shakespeares-globe

Outside view of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London, England.

Shakespeare’s original Globe theatre (known as ‘The Globe’) first opened in London in the year 1599. The open-air theatre staged some of Shakespeare’s most famous plays over the next 14 years. Is Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre tour on your bucket list? As a former theatre and acting teacher, this experience was certainly part of my list of things to do in London. However (and this is the part where you probably won’t like me), seeing another Shakespearean play performed is not on my list. That’s the reason...

an auditorium full of people sitting and standing

This replica of the Shakespeare's 16th century theatre, reconstructed just 200 yards from its original site, is the brainchild of American actor and director Sam Wanamaker. Built in wood and thatch, using techniques from 400 years ago, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre opened in 1996. Although it is not an exact replica, it is close, and plays are performed in the open-air, rain or shine. The thrust stage, and the fact that cheap standing tickets are available for every performance, create a…
