Ezekiel 41 - The Inner Chambers of the Temple. In Ezekiel chapter 41, the prophet receives a detailed vision of the inner chambers of the temple. The chapter provides measurements and descriptions of the sanctuary, the Holy of Holies, and the side chambers. It emphasizes the grandeur and holiness of the temple, as well as the importance of its specific dimensions and layouts.

We should not mistake them for ragtag fishermen acting on their own.

Ezekiel was a prophet to the exiles from Israel’s southern kingdom, Judah, in 597 BC. Babylon had violently taken these people from their homes. In other words, God had displaced his people from the land he had given them because of their sin and rebellion against him. Ezekiel lived among the exiles in this foreign land. God sent Ezekiel to the exiles to speak for him—to reorient them to reality. Ezekiel helps the exiles see themselves, God, and their future all from God’s perspective.

Ezekiel’s first vision leaves him completely overwhelmed. It is rich with meaning for faithful servants of God today. What does Ezekiel see and hear?
