Welcome to our grade 6 Social Studies blog. We will be sharing ideas, projects, and displaying our written work on this site as our 2015-2016 school year progresses. This year, we will be learning all about World Cultures and discussing current Human Rights Issues around the world. Diversity. It simply means a variety of something. It could be age, ethnicity, gender, physical abilities, political opinions, race, religious beliefs, socio-economic status or viewpoints, just to name a few. Here in the Texas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, we are embracing our diversity and including everyone as part of the family of God.

Understanding what is "culture" is key to understanding a multitude of other terms and phrases like cancel culture, cultural appropriation, multiculturalism, cultural diversity, and cultural awareness.

As parents, we want our kids to model kindness, understanding and empathy. In today’s diverse world, a large part of that is being aware and sensitive of other cultures. No matter the age of your children or the community in which you live, there are many opportunities to introduce and teach cultural diversity in a fun, respectful way.
