Banquo macbeth

In the play Macbeth, Banquo is a friend of Macbeth and the witches have a prophecy that he will be "lesser than Macbeth but Greater".

Macbeth feels a clear sense of guilt after he directly orders the murder of Banquo by a group of murderous ruffians, not only does he double check that Banquo is dead but sees his ghost, a true sign of his overwhelming guilt and its effect upon him.

"So is he mine, and in such bloody distance That every minute of his being thrusts Against my near’st of life." This shows that now Macbeth is trying to kill his friend, Banquo, even after Macbeth became a king. The phrase, "That every minute of his being thrusts Against my near’st of life", shows Macbeth's fear of losing power.
