Today we would like to take a moment to highlight 'Curia' - Alvar Aalto The invitational competition for Säynätsalo Town Hall was held in 1949. Aalto won the competition with an entry marked ‘Curia’ and was immediately commissioned to prepare working drawings. Completed in 1952, the building is one of Aalto’s most admired designs.

In 1935, Aino and Alvar Aalto purchased a plot of land in Helsinki and began to design their home. The architect couple´s cosy and intimate residence and studio was completed in 1936.
