Kodak introduced the Brownie camera in 1900 for $1. It popularized low-cost photography and introduced the concept of the snapshot. Over 150,000 Brownie cameras were shipped in the first year of production, and Kodak introduced an improved model (pictured here) in 1901, which cost $2 and produced larger photos.
