CVC Bingo Games for Young Readers
We love a good game of BINGO! Our CVC bingo games are made especially for the youngest readers, because the children don't have to try to read the words alone. How to play: The teacher (or caller) holds up a word card, and together, the group of kids try to sound out the word. After, they check to see if they have that picture on their card, and mark it if they do. Check out this fun game!

Word Building with Sticky Notes
Building words using sticky notes works well because the unused letters stay in alphabetical order, reducing the time children spend searching for the the letters they need! In case they can't locate a specific letter, they can simply sing the alphabet song until they find it. This method really works for young children because it makes sense to them and builds on something they already know- The ABC song! This is much more budget friendly than purchasing magnetic letters and trays.

"Writing" Beginning Sounds Letters
We start "writing" beginning sounds letters by giving them magnetic letters and having them show me the correct letter for each word. Then I pick one child to put their letter on the sheet! Once they understand, I release them to try it alone, as I watch and correct mistakes.

Have you tried a Write the Room activity yet? This CVC "write the room" activity was created to help kids identify, read, & write the consonant-vowel-consonant words in the given word families. You "hide" the cards around the room, and then children go on a word hunt! When they find the card, they decide which of the three words it is, and copy it onto their recording sheet. You can also use the cards with NO words at the bottom, if your kiddos are up to the challenge! Word Bowling with ESGI Flashcards!
The rules are simple: Ask the child to read the word on the flashcard. If he gets it right, roll him a cube. If not, he does not get a cube. Each time the child gets a cube, they stack it on top of the last one. Then, each time the teacher rolls him a new cube, the teacher tries to roll it so that it will knock down the child’s tower! If it gets knocked down, then the kids just rebuild it and wait for their next turn!
