St. Mary's Episcopal Church was built in 1857 to serve approximately 20 plantation families north of St. Francisville, Louisiana. The church was deconsecrated in 1947, and today stands empty, gradually being overtaken by the surrounding forest.
As unsure as I am about the art deco font, I sure do enjoy its architecture. This is the new Fisher building in town, and it is perhaps the grandest the eye can see. Sometimes I consider moving to the suburbs, but why would I do that when I have beautiful buildings and efficient transportation right here in Detroit? -Walter Mayfield, 1920
