The Beach Boys

The Beach Boys didn't invent the surf music but they sure made it famous. I think their harmony was what made them apart from other surf musicians like Jan and Dean, although Jan and Dean had their own moments.

From Summer 1963 here's the Beach Boy tune that came out first on the LP Surfer Girl - 'In My Room.' I practiced the harmonies over and over again singing to this one. I even told my mom I wanted a bass electric guitar because of this song.

#2 - "Who's gonna hear this shit?" Beach Boys singer Mike Love asked the band's resident genius, Brian Wilson, in 1966, as Wilson played him the new songs he was working on. "The ears of a dog?" But Love's contempt proved oddly useful: "Ironically," Wilson observed, "Mike's barb inspired the album's title." Barking dogs – Wilson's dog Banana among them, in fact – are prominent among the found sounds on the album. www.jeffreymarkell.com #orangecountyrealtor #jeffforhomes #greatestalbums

"Don't Worry Baby" - my favorite Beach Boys song. The "choreography" on this tape certainly needed some work (lol), but hearing and seeing them this young brings back great memories associated with their music!
