IT - Stephen King. Ever since I read this book I am terribly afraid of clowns to the point of passing out whenever I see one.

I read this book as a teenager, when you supposedly have no concept of your own mortality. It freaked me out so badly, I had to keep the book turned spine OUT so as not to see the title when I put it on my shelf.
