VARAHA JAYANTI Varaha is the third incarnation of Lord Vishnu. During the Satya Yuga Vishnu appeared as a boar to save Prithvi, the earth goddess from the demon Hiranyaksha. This demon had stolen the Vedas from Lord Brahma and pushed Prithvi under the ocean. Varaha first raised Prithvi on his tusks and then fought and killed Hiranyaksha and retrieved the Vedas. Devotees believe that Varaha appeared on earth on this day and worship him with fasting and prayers.
