Pergamo binding tutorial. This is a binding I have devised for a samples book of decorated papers that needed to open flat (see 'Samples Books' in this site). The name Pergamo comes from the fact that my first binding of this sort was made in parchment (pergamino in my native language) and its spine looks very much like a marble column of the old city. It is a very light structure that can be made in heavy paper or vellum. Its longstitch sewing is protected by the spine folds.

Scoop slightly softened ice cream into lined cold cake pan about half full. Press ice cream down flat with parchment paper. Place a…

Dan Cormier, Woven Bowl, c.2000. “Inspired by Japanese textiles, I made this bowl by experimenting with domes. First using a dapping block (this bowl is 5 or 6 “dia.) then by scaling up using a previous size bowl to build the next larger one. Pattern here started as individual slices & sheets burnished together in a single flat veneer on a backing layer of clay for thickness; cut into desired shape then form over a dome. Using a flower "nail" to keep a cake from "doming." For large cakes, use more than one nail. Can also use the bake-level strips for added insurance. If you use parchment liners, put the nail down first, then the parchment (pierces the paper) then pour in the batter. When you flip the cake over, the nail will not lift the parchment unevenly causing a blemish in the cake bottom.

EPBOT: Bubble Wrap Bracelet: Rainbow Shells! : just sandwich your plastic between two sheets of parchment paper and iron the bejeepers out of 'em. (Do this in a well ventilated area, since the fumes can be toxic.) I did learn the hard way that you really need to pop all the bubbles in your bubble wrap first - otherwise it won't fuse down properly - and you should iron one layer at a time.

Our first water blob! We found the tutorial on you tube; using the parchment paper and iron method worked great. We quickly learned to put it on a flat part of the yard. Looking forward to seeing J's expression when he sees it. Thanks, Mark Costello for This great idea and implementation!

Another winner from Pinterest by way of BuzzFeed, Deena Shanker, BuzzFeed staff brought me to recipe on Erica's Recipes. I made some minor changes in filling but this is my first attempt, fresh out of the oven on Easter morning. Daring and chancy doing for the first time on the day I needed to take with me but all came out perfect! Tip: laid out in a 14" pizza pan lined with parchment then slid onto a flat baking sheet, baking right on parchment. Worked like a dream!
