El Juniperus phoenicea este ejemplar  en su variedad “canarensis” que se encuentra en la isla de El Hierro, en las Islas Canarias, España. Allí los fuertes vientos han modelado el aspecto de la dura madera de esta especie.

El Arbo de la Sabina is the famous, ancient Juniper tree. In Spanish, "Sabina" mean Juniper. Like the famous and interesting Dragon Tree, it is located on  the Spanish Canary Island, El Hierro.  The trees are well known for constantly being deformed by wind. This is how they get their famous deformed appearance. Although the trunk of the tree stands straight up, the branches cascade back to the ground.

"El Arbol de la Sabina" means "Juniper Tree" in Spanish. What is special about this plant, growing up on El Hierro Island, Spain, is that its form gets constantly changed because of the wind. The trees' valuable wood was widely used up to the 1950s, when this plant became an endangered species.
