Doss was born in Lynchburg, Virginia, son of William Thomas Doss, a carpenter, and Bertha E. Desmond Doss enlisted in April but refused to kill or carry a weapon into combat because of his personal beliefs as a Seventh-day Adventist.

DOSS DESMOND: American Corporal of World War II, the first (and only) conscientious objector to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor. The recent film Hacksaw Ridge was based on the life off Doss. Signed colour 4 x 6 photograph of Doss in a head and shoulders pose, in later life, saluting and wearing his uniform and medals. Signed ('Desmond T.
