This is how I keep my water from freezing in the winter. Only I use cinder block. Cinder block heater & water warmer - light bulb inside cinder bock covered with a stepping stone & water container set on top won't freeze.very clever idea!

This is our version of an automatic heated chicken watering system designed for year-round use. We used a simple design consisting of a cooler, bird bath heater, submersible pump, and PVC tubing
