I don't recall the exact width of the paper when I started, but I'd guess it's 1" by a full 12" long. The trick is that you actually need two identical strips of paper to make a full circle. Score each strip every 1/4" and then accordion fold them. Attach one to the other to make a long strip and then join them again for a circle. I hope that helps!
