One of the all-time classic Converse basketball models, the Pro Leather (leather version of the Pro Model) was worn by any number of pros throughout the 1970's and into the early 1980's. They're also known as "Dr. J's" since they were made most famous by Julius Erving wearing them for his high-flying feats on the court. However, here we see them being worn by Chris Ford in 1979.
New Balance, a brand known primarily for their running shoes, entered the basketball shoe market in 1982 with the 480. Closely associated with M.L. Carr of the Celtics since he was the first player to wear them in the NBA, the 480 features a nice, clean design and was one of the better performing models from any brand at the time.
