For years, that was the cue for some New Orleanians to head to Pontchartrain Beach Amusement Park to take a dip, stroll along the neon-lighted midway and step aboard rides that could be lovely, like the carousel or the Ferris wheel, or gut-clutching, like the Zephyr or the Wild Maus.
