Anthony W. Gardiner 9th President of Liberia. Bio Snippets: born in Southampton Co VA. Gardiner was a lawyer and one of the delegates of the Nation Convention which drafted the declaration of independence and the constitution. He was the country's first attorney general. As president he worked to improve public education and his govt's relationship with the native tribes. Gardiner resigned office due to serious illness.
