Eleanor of Aquitaine: Queen of France, Queen of England, Duchess of Aquitaine in her own right, and Mother of two English Kings, and two European Queens. She died at the age of 82 in 1204. “She was beautiful and just, imposing and modest, humble and elegant”; and, as the nuns of Fontevrault wrote in their necrology, a queen “who surpassed almost all the queens of the world.”
