ack! despite the gang's best efforts everything did't come together as planned. kinda like my life. i guess everybody feels that way at least once in while. i seem to be making a career of it. as always, i'm working on it. manually holding the split parts together with tape and have upped the controlled filament melting temp at the nozzle. higher temps cause more stringing and artifacts but makes for better bonding. no trouble with the cooler temp above 1" on v4. will lower setting later today.

the upper section of version 4 came out very well. the base separated at the crack. the bottom piece was bound to the build plate.

don't know about anyone else but i'm lovin' it. i'm the only one i'm trying to please about how this is going but if anyone's looking, give me a shout out. what do you like? what don't you like? i'd love to get this done from bottom to top really clean. there's still more cleanup to do here but most of the big artifacts are off. what else do you want me to try?

lots of support material to remove. started the some additional clean up. may not do much more because there will be a v3 - i'm hoping it'll be better, still. this looks more like the original with the soft white, at least in the pictures. the silk material makes the surfaces pretty shiny - that's why it's made and why i used it. not sure if v3 will be silk or flat. there's a lithophane on the machine now. it should be done sometime tomorrow if something doesn't mess it up.

i never knew this sculpture existed before the last several months. i've read and re-read several accounts of the story of psyche and cupid. on the surface some of it's a bit odd and some of its really beautiful. sometimes tragic but beautiful. i'll have to see what it meant to the greeks and romans - i'm sure there's more to it. one more example of how my life's been enriched. that sounds stupid but it's true and it means more to me knowing it means something to you.

started working on this in late july, 2018. to feel connected, together, but also not. hard to explain except that it hurt then and still does. love. love is hard to explain. it seems as though this woman and man should be able to face each other and... what? i don't know. maybe see what happens. love. i understand some of my fears. not wanting to damage or lose something that seems profound. i try, really try to say and do the right things but sometimes i fail. i don't want to fail.
