Branford Lock Works first produced this popular Eastlake pattern in 1884. Recurring design components include an open fan, the rising sun and bamboo. Noteworthy is the detailing on the reverse side of the doorknobs and on each hinge reveal that shows when the door is closed.

An untouched 1883 interior in Massachusetts offers up an encyclopedia of Aesthetic Movement ornament, much of it in the Anglo-Japanese or Orientalist taste.

Bronze Oriental pattern entry back plate. This plate is from the late 1880's. The overall dimensions are 7 1/4 inches by 1 7/8 inches wide. The opening for the doorknob measures 5/8 inches. The center of the doorknob to the center of the first keyhole measures 1 3/4 inches. The center of the doorknob to the center of the second keyhole measures 3 inches. Screws are included with purchase. One single back plate is available.

Branford Lock Works bronze Oriental style hinges made in the late 1880's in Branford, CT. These gorgeous hinges are 4 1/2 inches by 4 1/2 inches and feature decorative finials. The hinge pins are removable. Sold as a pair of hinges. We have one pair available. Screws will be included with purchase.

We were visiting friends in Santa Cruz this weekend and noticed the fantastic details on their original Victorian-era doors and doorknobs. We were tickled pink by the attention paid to the inside edge of the door and couldn’t resist sharing.
