These instructions on how to build a PVC Pipe Toy Gym and Toy Bar were requested by fellow parents of children with special needs, usually non-mobile children with severe delays due to multiple dis.

Sensory boards made out of dollar store cutting boards and common objects from the craft cupboard and around the house. There is sand paper - kitchen scrubbies - car wash mitts - place mats - terrycloth toweling - fun fur etc. The edging is made from colourful shoelaces and each item is glued down with tacky glue - I find it stronger than hot glue - it just had to dry for a couple of days before use.  The children really seem to enjoy them!

Tactile Schedule - This can be created using basic items to symbolize the activity. Lots of Velcro, and bright colored card stock to reinforce visual attention.

Make your own visual/auditory activity schedule for a child with a visual impairment. Using velcro, place inexpensive single message talkers on a strip of ABS plastic. Then, using velcro, place the object symbol on top of each message talker.
