4 Types of Sentences flip book...and snow!

My students were giddy this morning when everyone woke up to the first snow of the season here in Kansas! It wasn't much, but enough to get everyone excited. So when we did this little activity about the 4 types of sentences today, (declarative, interrogative, exclamatory, & imperative) we wrote our 4 sentences about snow! 4 Types of Sentences flip book! I introduced the 4 types and then the students put the flip book together. Under each flap they wrote that type of sentence. One of my…

When my son got home from school, I was ready with the register tape, scissors, pencil, and the stapler…

Subject & Predicate Freebie!

It's only the second week of school, and I'm already starting to do the "juggling act!" There is so much introductory content to cover in such a short period of time. I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir! While I'm spending the majority of our class time on the writing process (as promised!) we're also working on complete sentence mini-lessons. The major concept that I'm trying to stress right now is that complete sentences can be long or short, but they must have a subject and predicate…
