This Rabid Wolf Spider is easily recognized by its striped body. It is one of many kinds of wolf spiders (family Lycosidae), so called because they are active, fast moving predators, like wolves. They do not spin a web but they do weave silk to build a shelter or a sac to carry eggs in. This egg sac is attached to the spider’s abdomen; after the spiderlings hatch they clamber up their mother's legs and crowd onto her abdomen.
