Grand Ole Opry

WSM's radio tower being constructed in Bentwood, TN. Finished in 1932, it increased the station's wattage to 50,000 watts, which, during the day, carried a signal 200 miles. At night, due to the earth's changing ionosphere, the Opry could be heard (intermittently) for a thousand miles. It is now an historic landmark.
