Liberty Furniture & Home decor. Arthur Lasenby Liberty opened his first shop in 1875 selling ornaments, fabrics & oriental items. Through the late 19th century demand for carpets, home furnishings & furniture increased. Liberty built strong relationships with contemporary designers of the day such as Arhcibald Knox and embraced new styles such as the Arts and Crafts movement, Art Nouveau & influences from the East. Liberty furniture included bookcases, chairs, dressers, tables, sideboards etc.
Liberty Arts & Crafts Revolving Bookcase Tulips
A lovely oak Arts & Crafts revolving bookcase, dating to circa 1900-1910, with pierced tulip decoration very much in the Liberty style. A practical piece as it can take decent sized books and is strong and stable. The tulip piercing is so attractive and it spins smoothly on its central stem.
Liberty & Co Sedley 4 Tier Oak Bookcase Trefoils
