The "Zeus" and the tank barge Brown 220 made the first run up the Appalachicola River to Eufaula, Alabama in the early 1960's when it was opened for tug & barge navigation. The steamboat in the background belonged to the US Army Corps of Engineers and was a "snag boat" to keep the river clear of logs and other debris that could block the channel or damage boats.
