It’s time to inlay this sweet scene! 🦄🏺 Closed captioning: Inlay platter with me! You might remember this piece from a carving video I posted a couple of weeks ago. So now that this piece has had a chance to dry out, the drawing is ready for inlay. My most essential tools here are a clean sponge, @amacobrent underglaze, a nice fan brush and lots of water. Yes, that is mould you can see the start. It’s a bit smelly but it’s good for the clay as the microbes eat and well, defecate the material, lowering the acidity of the stoneware and making it more plastic and easier to throw with, or at least that’s the idea. It’s for that reason when clay becomes short, which is the term we use to describe clay that’s weak and cracks easily, it’s normally mixed up, set aside and aged.
