Violets in a Teacup
Welcome! I haven't forgotten my blog password or anything like that; I've been trying to get ready to leave for Oregon for a couple of days to work on a Copic class. This afternoon I took time to [are you ready for this?] Just. Color. Yes--color! Lockhart Stamp Company had released some new 2011 stamps, one of which was begging to be colored. Of course I had to oblige. . . I used the African Violets in a Teacup stamp and the Copic markers shown in the stepped out photos below. First I…

Butterfly Inchie Play
It's cold here, folks--definitely not butterfly weather! Thankfully our house is toasty warm, so I can pretend that it's summer when I stamp. :-D (Okay, I needed a break from Christmas cards--you know, those cards I keep making and still haven't actually mailed one of yet.) I stamped three Lockhart butterflies on Neenah Classic White cardstock with Black Brilliance ink, and I colored them with the following Copic Markers: Y21, Boo, G40, R20, R14, E31, and 0. I enhanced them with Melon…
Violets Meet Euphoria
Tonight I took a little break from some assignments and stamped something that I could color. I chose a Lockhart Violet Cupcake image and colored it with the Copic markers pictured below. The B23 marker on the end was the one that I used to airbrush a pale blue background into the top of the circle, using my Spellbinders Circle Nestability die as a mask. I also used a Spellbinders Fancy Scalloped Border Pierceability for the right edge of the card. (I skipped the embossing and piercing…

thinking of spring
Thinking of spring here, since we got dumped on with another six inches of snow. Not complaining though...girlfriends in the northern midwest got hit with the white stuff AND negative temps - we're still in the 20's (Fahrenheit) here in...

WSC39 - Spring Dotted Butterfly
Time for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge again. Here's this week's sketch: And short & sweet this morning -- my sample: Products: Lockhart Polka Dot Butterfly stamped in Brilliance Pearlescent Chocolate pigment ink on Curious Iridescent Cryogen White cardstock, colored with Copic markers, cut and matted with Spellbinders Classic & Scalloped Rectangle Nestabilities. Clear Dew Drops (colored with same Copic B23 I used on the butterfly), Memory Box Aerial & Inspire printed papers -- all except…
Spring Fling Sketch Challenge
I played with new PaperTrey Ink stamps most of the day Saturday--fun summer stamps! I can't show those to you quite yet, but I do have a card to share from Friday night. In conjunction with Ellen's Spring Fling festivities, Susan Roberts issued a sketch challenge to the CLASSroom bloggers and anyone else who might like to play along. I thought it was a color challenge as well and used the colors in which she had drawn the sketch. I was a bit out of my element with these, but that's what…
Sending You Smiles
Our snow piles are rapidly disappearing! In honor of seeing the ground again, I wanted to share a Spring-y card today. I stamped my checkered butterfly image in Black Brilliance ink on Neenah Classic White cardstock, then colored it with the Copic markers pictured. (The marker with the blank end is an empty marker that I filled with blender fluid and a few drops of YR31 for a soft yellow glow that is easy to blend into the background.) Before cutting it out with my Spellbinders Classic…
Organic Carrots, Anyone?
I've had this darling little Lockhart Organic Carrots stamp for a couple of weeks and had just been too busy to play with it--until tonight. I thought I'd try a quick card, combining it with some of my Cosmo Cricket Honey Pie papers from their 8" x 8" pad. First I stamped the carrots in Adirondack Pitch Black, then I colored them in the Copic colors pictured. The quick part? Picking marker colors--I chose my paper first and then simply let it decide the marker colors. I used a Spellbinders…
